The Republicans are clearly worried about President Trump holding up under the enormous strain he is under.  By design, most politicians are afraid of controversy and of the media. Therefore, they rarely make decisions based upon loyalty and fairness.

 

Despite screaming daily headlines that Trump did this or Trump did that, there is no clear evidence that the President did anything even remotely impeachable.  So, House Democrats have gone to the “abuse of power” playbook.

 

Republicans are just standing around watching this charade.

 

Every American president could have been charged with abuse of power.  JFK for the Bay of Pigs fiasco.  Lyndon Johnson for misleading the nation about Vietnam.  Harry Truman for dropping the atom bomb.  FDR for failing to accept more refugees from Nazi occupied territories.  Barack Obama for failing to protect Americans in Libya. Abraham Lincoln for suspending Habeus Corpus.

 

Let me repeat, every president could have been impeached under the abuse of power banner.  Every one.
