While not everyone may be into sports, an interesting battle is being waged among NBA talking heads over one ESPN analyst's controversial take on the league's MVP.

Kendrick Perkins, a former player, alleged that MVP voters are racist because the winner of the last two season's awards is possibly in line for a third.

Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets center and a Serbian national, has kept his team a playoff contender in the age of the "super team," which is why he is on the hardware hot streak.

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and others have dismissed Perkin's opinion on the matter, but one could ask, is the voting press invested in a White winner?

Among the past 30 winners, Jokic joins Canadian Steve Nash (two) and German Dirk Nowitzki (1) as the only "White" winners. The other 25 trophies have been taken home by Black men.

One could easily credit the international game rather than race for Jokic's success. Milwaukee Bucks star GiannisAntetokounmpo, a Greek national, preceded Jokic with two MVP awards.

But racial accusations, that's a layup.
