The lead story on CBS radio’s World News Roundup this morning was an accusation by the lawyer for Stormy Daniels that Donald Trump’s private attorney, Michael Cohen, received $500,000 from a Russian oligarch. The accusing attorney suggesting the money was used in part to pay Ms. Daniels to shut up.
The Russian denies the story and it seems preposterous that Mr. Cohen would accept a nickel from any Russian knowing the collusion investigation was underway. I mean, who would do that?
Nevertheless, an accusation by a man who is out to damage the President any way he can, becomes a national story that is endlessly discussed on television despite the lack of any hard evidence.
This is America in May of 2018. A place where all allegations against powerful people instantly become truth. I have no idea what Michael Cohen did or did not do, but the odds are the Russian money story is fiction.
And if that turns out to be the case, will the news agencies that promoted the unsubstantiated allegation apologize? No, they will not. They will ignore the outcome and move onto the next allegation.
Tonight on the No Spin News, we will talk about the horrid media environment, the reaction from Iran to President Trump’s aggressive condemnation, and the release of three Americans from a North Korean prison.
