Looking back at 2024, all Americans have their favorite moments and events. For many of us, of course, one particularly memorable day was November 5th. Not only because Donald Trump's victory saved the country from four more years of incompetence and radicalism but also because it marked the unofficial end of a hateful network filled with hateful people delivering hateful messages.
Yes, we admit to suffering from a severe case of schadenfreude, the German term used for obtaining pleasure in the misfortune of others. In this case our happiness comes from witnessing, in real time, the collapse of MSNBC on the first Tuesday in November.
You may have seen one of the many compilation videos showing the network's hosts and panelists, left-wing Trump-haters all, shifting from joy and optimism to outright despair.
The most hilarious part comes when despicable Joy Reid heaps praise on Kamala Harris for her 'flawlessly-run campaign.' This is the same Kamala Harris who, after being anointed as the Democratic nominee, roamed in the media desert for 40 days and 40 nights without giving an interview or holding a press conference. She eventually sat down for mostly friendly chats but refused an invitation from influential podcaster Joe Rogan. No doubt books are now being written about the Harris campaign's utter incompetence.
As it turned out, MSNBC's election night was the network's high-water mark as more than six million Americans tuned in for coverage that turned downright funereal. MSNBC actually had more viewers than CNN, although both were dwarfed by Fox News.
But immediately after Trump's victory, MSNBC's normal prime-time audience was slashed in half, and some familiar hosts are reportedly taking pay cuts. On some recent occasions, the failing network has had fewer viewers in the most desired demographic than upstart NewsNation, which tries to play the news straight down the middle. After years of being lied to by MSNBC's deranged hosts and guests, many self-proclaimed 'progressives' have abandoned the network and TV news in general.
Parent company Comcast has revealed that it will sell off MSNBC and some of its other properties. Sure, the network will continue to exist, perhaps with a different name, and there will still be a place for Joy Reid, Jen Psaki, Nicolle Wallace, Lawrence O'Donnell, Joe Scarborough, and the rest of the crew.
But MSNBC's influence will never again reach the heights of Tuesday, November 5th. That's bad news for America's forlorn lefties; it's good news for America.
