The ongoing brawl between President Trump and much of the national media is intensifying over this Ukraine thing.

 

There is only one relevant issue for the American people: did the President threaten or cajole the new Ukrainian leader with money matters to investigate dubious behavior by Joe Biden and his son Hunter?

 

Wanting to know how the Bidens interacted with Ukraine is acceptable.  Using US funds as leverage, as Mr. Biden himself did while Vice-President, is unacceptable.

 

It will be very interesting if President Trump decides to make public a transcript of his call with the Ukrainian President.  That would crush the anti-Trump forces if the conversation did not include a quid pro quo (Latin this for that).

 

But if there’s any doubt about the conversation, Mr. Trump will get smeared even if there’s no direct talk of money.
