Terrible week for the country. The voters are digging in along ideological lines, and that means problem-solving will go to the back of the line.

About 40 percent of the country continues to back President Biden, according to the polling average. It can't be on job performance as government spending is out of control, immigration law has been destroyed by the White House, and prices for necessities like food and fuel are draining working Americans.

In addition, there is now no question that Mr. Biden participated in a lucrative influence-selling scheme. So why would any American want to reward him with a vote?

On the Republican side, polling leader Donald Trump is under siege from the corrupt justice department, but the former president has made a series of bad decisions which have empowered those who want to destroy him.

In the middle of this political catastrophe are honest Americans who just want a sane country that provides a pathway to success. Where is their standard bearer?

So, we continue to live in a growing discomfort zone, and common ground is almost impossible to find. That is not what the founders had in mind.
