Why is President Trump attending tonight’s Knicks-Spurs game an issue?  So what?  The guy has followed the team for years.  In fact, it was at a Knicks game that Donald Trump told me he was going to run for President.  I replied: Of what country?

The media continues to be obsessed with Trump, and that’s why they are pounding the Knicks story.  If President Biden were attending, no one would care.  Old Joe rarely did social things because Jill wouldn’t let him.  That was a good story.

There will likely be boos at Madison Square Garden when Donald Trump waves at the camera.  And that will become another press-driven spectacle.  But a negative New York City reception is not a lock.  Last September, there was cheering at the 9-11 event at Yankee Stadium.

But the Knicks draw a different crowd than the Yanks.  More affluent and liberal.  Can’t predict what will happen, but will report it accurately.

It’s not that hard.

The media’s obsession with President Trump will continue until he leaves office.  But the damage the press has done to itself will vividly remain.
