Van Der Sloot pleads guilty to lesser charge for lighter sentence

Montreal Gazette: Dutchman Joran Van der Sloot, confessed killer of a woman in Peru and lead suspect in the disappearance of an American teen, is seeking a reduced sentenced for the Peruvian crime, his attorney said Monday. "The goal is for him to be sentenced for the crime he has committed as something other than homicide," his attorney Maximo Altez said, describing the plea of "violent emotion" that his client will seek.
