Don Lemon Drama

UPDATE:

Because the Don Lemon situation is rapidly getting out of control, I am posting my Sunday column on Friday to give the story some context.

I don't know Lemon, ran into him once, and he was fine. So, I can't bring a personal perspective about him.

However, I can explain the big-picture danger to the country here. So, I hope you will read the column and let me know what you think. Bill@BillOReilly.com

The internet trolls are after Don Lemon. Not sure why, as he checks all the progressive boxes; liberal, black, gay. If that's not a ticket to ride in today's America, nothing is. But Lemon is getting hammered on the net and by The New York Post.

His employer CNN is trying to develop a morning program starring Lemon, Poppy Harlow, and Kaitlin Collins. The three are off to a slow start in the ratings because the competition is fierce. There are three network morning programs as well as established broadcasts on Fox News and MSNBC. A new show up against that has little chance.

According to the internet, the two ladies working with Don Lemon don't like him. So, social media sadists are pouncing.

On Thursday night, there was a headline that said Ms. Harlow and Ms. Collins "stormed off the set" because they were horrified by Lemon's analysis of Nikki Haley. I guess it's possible they were appalled, but that's not the reason they left. They had to use the restroom. It's a long shift. There's coffee.

The point is that Don Lemon is now a target, and dishonest people want to hurt him. But here's what's worse: there's absolutely nothing Lemon can do about it. Social media is deeply polluted by gutter snipes, defamers, and flat-out evil people. They have found their clubhouse.

As one who has been attacked, I know a simple truth: you have to fight - you can't give in emotionally. That's what these revolting trolls want. We'll see if Mr. Lemon can tough it out.

Enjoy the weekend. New column Sunday noon.
