Illegal immigration & child molestation
Guests: Former District Attorney Paul Bucher & Fox News crime analyst Det. Rod Wheeler

"In Wisconsin, 25-year old Paulo Sheispan-Landero, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, is charged with sexual assault on a child. According to the complaint, on three separate occasions he molested a 12-year old girl with his hands. Landero has two previous convictions and apparently was deported to Mexico but came back. So let's recap - a criminal illegal alien, already deported, is charged with a felony sexual assault on a child. He's in big trouble, right? Not so fast. When Landero stood before Court Commissioner Lawrence Gazeley, he must have been stunned when he was allowed to walk out of court after posting $5,000 bond. 5,000 bucks for a guy facing 25 years and who has a home in Mexico! We called Mr. Gazeley, but he's hiding under his desk. This incredible tale illustrates two important things. First, our southern border remains a joke. And second, there are many in law enforcement who don't see sexual assaults on children as serious crimes. After reporting on the immigration chaos and the child molestation epidemic for years, I'm just about numb. We have made great strides with Jessica's Law, but there are still far too many law enforcement officials who are incompetent. On the illegal immigration front, we've made a little progress, but not much. I believe the wall will never be funded by the new Democrat Congress, and the southern border will not be secure. So there will be many other Paulo Sheispan-Landeros to come, and our elected officials will continue to look the other way. Not a great message to start 2007, but the truth is the truth."

For more on the case, The Factor was joined by former Wisconsin DA Paul Bucher and Fox News analyst Rod Wheeler. "If there ever was an abomination of justice," Wheeler proclaimed, "this case is it. When this commissioner let this guy walk, the cops were livid." Bucher explained that commissioner Gazeley is not accountable to Wisconsin voterrs. "The commissioner is not even elected, he's appointed. The person who made this decision is not held responsible for it. And I'll bet federal immigration authorities didn't even know about this case." The Factor worried that Landero may not appear for his next court date. "The guy has two previous beefs and he's facing 25 years if convicted. If I were him I wouldn't show up. And who cares about the 12-year old girl? You know what the answer is? Nobody cares about that girl and thousands of other children who have been molested in this country."

Far-left unhappy with Dems
Guest: Sunsara Taylor, The World Can't Wait

A press conference by leading Democrats was interrupted this week when radical leftists shouted down the speakers. Anti-war activist Sunsara Taylor explained why Democrats are being targeted. "The Democrats have made it abundantly clear that they are not calling for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. The U.S. is involved in a criminal war, there is institutionalization of torture, and these things are not being discussed the way they should be." The Factor denounced Taylor for her tactics. "You believe that your group, as small as it is, has a right to shout down Congress people. You're a lunatic, and if you weren't a lunatic 90% of America would agree with you. All you want is attention."

Nancy Pelosi sworn in
Guest: Political analyst Dick Morris

The United States has its first female Speaker of the House, California's Nancy Pelosi. Political analyst Dick Morris scrutinized Pelosi and her Democrat colleagues. "The package of legislation she's starting with is very good - raise the minimum wage, cut the interest rates on college loans. But the Democratic Party has a big problem. They were elected on Iraq, but they won't do anything about Iraq. The left wing elected them and that left wing is going to be very disappointed in the Democratic Party." The Factor urged Republicans to give the new House leadership a chance. "A lot of conservatives are already hammering Nancy Pelosi, and I don't think that's fair. Let's see what she's got and what they'll do."

Duke rape case disintegrating
Guest: Fox News analyst Juan Williams

While the case against the Duke lacrosse players is crumbling, the accuser bore her third child this week. The Factor recapped the woman's sordid past. "She's an irresponsible person with three illegitimate children, no visible way to support those children, and there's testimony that she's a 'sex worker.' But the accuser has been protected by the system, while the accused have been torn apart." FNC contributor Juan Williams agreed that the woman's credibility is almost nil. "Her life has spun out of control, and her version of events is nothing I would rely on to put anyone behind bars. But remember that one of the boys also has charges of assault and gay-baiting and they were all involved in underage drinking. These boys aren't angels either."

NBC's turn towards the far left?
Guests: Fox News analysts Jane Hall & Bernard Goldberg

The Factor has singled out NBC News as the most liberal of the major networks. In the latest example, long-time anchor Tom Brokaw categorized the execution of Saddam Hussein as a "nightmare out of the old American West." But Fox News analyst Jane Hall defended NBC and its objectivity. "The reporting on NBC Nightly News is worthy of respect and it is fair. All Tom Brokaw was saying was that the execution of Saddam is causing violence. I disagree with trying to smear an entire news division." FNC analyst Bernard Goldberg claimed that all the networks and major newspapers tilt the same way. "The media in America is a liberal institution, populated overwhelmingly by people who are left of center. When you have very little diversity of opinion in the big-time media, you're going to get this stuff all the time." The Factor reiterated that NBC has made a sharp left turn. "You have a shift in a major news organization, and it has to be sanctioned at the highest levels. I'll make a prediction that this year ABC News will beat NBC News in 2007 because a lot of people in the center are seeing what I'm seeing."

Anti-Semitic incident in Las Vegas
Guest: Attorney Sunny Hostin

At a city council meeting in Las Vegas, a resident told Mayor Oscar Goodman "if your parents had been incinerated at Auschwitz or Treblinka, you wouldn't be around to abuse the homeless." When the man was forcibly removed, the ACLU claimed his rights had been violated. Attorney Sunny Hostin defended the ACLU's position. "There's no question that the remarks were horrific, but the First Amendment does guarantee you the right of freedom of speech. This was a public forum, and we want people to have freedom to voice their opinion." The Factor argued that free speech has its limits. "You don't have a right to say anything you want in a controlled situation. The mayor had the right to remove that man from the city chambers."

Factor Words of the Day
Your e-mails covered the execution of Saddam Hussein and other topics. Some excerpts:

Ann Marie Miller, Franklin Lakes, NJ: "Bill, you were calm with Nancy Soderberg who blamed the USA for the uncivilized hanging of Saddam. All we did was hand him over to the Iraqis. They messed up."

Mike McKenzie, Wisconsin Rapids, WI: "Bill, show us one picture of Saddam personally killing anyone. All I've seen is his lackeys doing the dirty work and Fox News is a lackey for the Bush regime."

Robert Smith, Sayreville, NJ: "What does the left want? On the one hand, they say let the Iraqis run their own country, then they complain when we do."

Steven Shene, Melbourne, FL: "Saddam's execution was just one more in a long list of foreign policy screwups by this inept administration."

LouQuita Whitlock, Milwaukee, WI: "Dr. Laura wants to send society back to the time when women did everything. I don't want to be submissive."

Ammi Hugo, Guttenberg, IA: "Dr. Laura is right. I've tried the nice tactic and my husband is now eating out of my hand."

Joyce Bell, Riverside, CA: "Dr. Laura does not live in the real world. At the end of the day, my guy helping me with the dishes is a lot sexier than climbing into a bubble bath together."
