A view of The View... one day later
"The nation is talking about my debate with the ladies of The View over how to describe the brutal attack on 9/11. Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walked off the set, objecting to my statement that Muslims killed Americans on 9/11. This is a classic 'liberal vs. traditional' situation. I believe there is a problem in the Muslim world, and if you look at polls most Muslims have a poor opinion of America. Therefore, many of them are inclined to sympathize with people who are giving America a hard time, and in some cases that includes violent terrorists. The whole world fears that Muslim terrorists will murder people in their countries. So while Ms. Goldberg and Ms. Behar may be offended that I did not use the words 'Muslim terrorists,' the truth is that there is bitter conflict between the Muslim world and the West. Why do liberals want to sever the connection between terrorism and Islam? Part of the reason is that far left people have always believed it's partially America's fault that some Muslims hate us. But there comes a time when the truth must be told. Anyone watching this program knows that I am not anti-Muslim, but you also know that I deplore the continuing terror acts committed under the banner of Islam. If moderate Muslims would ally with the USA, the jihad would not exist."

The Factor pursued the issue with Zuhdi Jasser, head of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. "I thank you for your courage," Jasser said, "and for saying what many of us have been saying. We formed our organization because we recognize this is a Muslim problem and it needs a Muslim solution. My parents came to this country because we were escaping oppressive governments run by Muslim majorities. There is a 'theo-political' movement that endangers our security." Jasser posed an intriguing question for Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. "I wonder how many ladies on The View would even think of living in a Muslim-majority country. They wouldn't think of it because of the oppression of rights when these people get in control. There is a problem within the Muslim community that we are pathologically denying."
Far-left media criticizes Bill on The View
A few reporters accused Bill of instigating Thursday's verbal fireworks on The View. The Factor asked FNC media analyst Bernie Goldberg about the incident. "The media loves confrontation," Goldberg said, "and this confrontation was too good to be true. What happened tells us that too many liberals have forgotten how to be 'liberal.' They keep telling us they're about the free exchange of ideas, but here we have two liberals who don't like what you say, so they get up and walk off. And when they don't like what Ann Coulter says at a university, they throw a pie at her or shout her down. How is any of this 'liberal?'" The Factor revealed the results of a poll conducted by TMZ.com: "67% say Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar came off worse, 33% say O'Reilly came off worse. The folks know what's going on here."
Is there a gulf between Obama and the folks?
Is President Obama out of touch with working Americans? The Factor posed that question to Fox News analysts Dana Perino and Leslie Marshall. "Unfortunately, yes," Perino replied. "I was just watching his speeches as a candidate, but now you wonder what happened to that guy? I want to be able to think that the President has my best interests in mind, but what people hear is a lot of condescension. The Ground Zero mosque was just the straw that broke the camel's back, and I don't know how he gets his mojo back when it comes to being connected with people." Marshall disputed the idea that the mosque is a major factor for most Americans. "There are Democrats who don't favor the building of the mosque. But I do agree with Dana on the enthusiasm and the vibrant speaker that I voted for. That has changed, and we've seen a lot of presidents get old and tired real fast when they get to the White House."
More info on the Haiti aid situation
The Factor asked Geraldo Rivera to investigate whether money and aid are reaching Haitians who were devastated by the earthquake. "This is an open wound that continues to bleed," Rivera said. "There is now $1.15 billion that was approved by Congress for reconstruction, to begin getting the Haitian people roofs over their heads. Not one dime of that money has been spent. This 'emergency' process has taken from January until late October and we haven't spent a dime of that money. The last time I was on this program, I blamed Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, but I was wrong and I apologize to the Senator." The Factor added that Bill Clinton has been appointed as special envoy with the authority to spend the money: "I'm going on notice to say that President Clinton needs to step up and say what he's going to do. We are going to hold him accountable for the $1.1 billion."
Glenn Beck gives us an update
As his viewers know, Glenn Beck has undergone a battery of medical tests to determine why he has lost some feeling in his hands and feet. "They were considering whether I have cancer, MS or lupus," Beck revealed, "but I don't have any of that. We're still trying to figure out what's causing it." The Factor asked Beck to weigh in on the decision by Cambridge, Massachusetts to give students a day off for a Muslim holiday. "In Dearborn, Michigan, where there are a lot of Muslims," Beck said, "that makes sense. But if we're just being politically correct and there is a very small percentage of Muslims, that's ridiculous! It's up to people in their own local communities - let the people in Cambridge decide."
Dumbest things of the week
Finally, FNC's Greg Gutfeld and Arthel Neville named the wackiest stories of the past week. Neville picked the Internet video in which an actor portrays President Obama singing and smoking a cigarette. "That guy is good," Neville said, "and it's not dumb at all. They just posted this thing on YouTube and it's already gotten about 23,000 hits." Gutfeld also picked an Internet spoof, this one dealing with the Ground Zero mosque. "The people who did this want to stay alive, so they don't poke fun at the developers and they don't poke fun at Islam. What they're really poking fun at is American attitudes about Islam." Gutfeld also revealed the actual reason Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg walked off the set of The View Thursday. "What people don't talk about is the sexual tension. They got angry and they left because they know they can't have you, Bill, and it drives them crazy."
Factor viewers sound off
Patrick Sandham, Wichita, KS: "O'Reilly, you are a pinhead. We were attacked by the government of Japan. The 9/11 attack was by a fringe element of the Muslim religion. What you said was hate speech."

Phil Wesley, Palisade, CO: "Bill, I agree with you 100%. If moderate Muslims would join the U.S. to fight terrorism, the extreme Muslims would be defeated."

Jeremy Coccaro, Newington, CT: "Bill, I think you were dead on in what you said but were a bit condescending toward Joy."

Joe Baldacci, San Diego, CA: "Bill, you are an educated man and I am blown away by the bigotry of your words."
