Thursday: Taking on ISIS, PC Culture, and Poll Accuracy
Who Would Protect us Better: Trump or Clinton?
"While the left-wing media wants to put a stake through the Trump campaign's heart, the truth is he does have a chance to win the presidency. That chance hangs on two issues - the economy and combatting Islamic terrorism. If there is another terror attack on U.S. soil, Americans will react and that, of course, could change voting patterns. Almost a year ago, after the Paris attack, I put forth a plan to defeat the ISIS savages, calling on NATO to crush the killers. Obviously the Obama administration ignored that advice and continued a far less aggressive action against ISIS. Here is a stunning fact - there are 28 nations in the NATO alliance, but only eight are actively fighting against ISIS. So where are the other 20 NATO countries? Why are they not fighting the killers? President Obama is silent on that question, and it is appalling that NATO has not been organized to defeat the ISIS threat. Writing in the Wall Street Journal yesterday, Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein agreed. We were hoping she would come on The Factor to talk about it, but she has declined. You may have noticed that is a pattern among Democratic senators. I'm not paranoid, but there seems to be an organized effort to keep Democratic politicians off this network. Anyway, both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have put forth strategies. Mrs. Clinton would most likely take a more aggressive stance against ISIS than President Obama, but she has not really spelled that out yet. What this comes down to is will. Barack Obama simply does not have the motivation to quickly destroy the ISIS savages, thereby sending a message to the world. That is clear. But the present danger is also clear. The next terror attack is coming at any time. There will be more innocent people slaughtered while NATO does little to stop the carnage. Summing up, Americans are engaged emotionally with the terror fight and that will affect the upcoming vote. Both candidates should make ISIS a top priority."
Bernie on the Lying Swimmers
Four American Olympic swimmers apparently lied when they claimed they were robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro. The Factor asked Bernie Goldberg to weigh in. "This is the most interesting story to come out of the Olympics," he said, "because the rest of it is boring. It may be that these athletes were covering up for something they should not have been doing, such as drinking late at night. Brazil has enough bad PR about crime and if these guys are lying I'm glad they found out about it." Goldberg also denounced the mainstream media for generally ignoring the fact that Israel-hater George Soros has contributed millions of dollars to support Hillary Clinton. "Let's say a major financial backer of Donald Trump also supported groups that tried to delegitimize Israel," Goldberg surmised. "That would be a page one story in the New York Times." The Factor concluded, "This proves that the American media is dishonest and deeply in the tank for liberal causes."
How Accurate are the Polls?
Except for a few outliers that show a close race, most polls indicate that Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump. Fox News anchor Shannon Bream scrutinized the polls at this point in the race. "One academic organization looked at 28 different polls prior to the 2012 election," she reported, "and they were off by about three percentage points. 26 of the 28 polls had Mitt Romney doing better than he wound up doing. The worst polls were Rasmussen, Gallup, NPR, and AP." FNC's Eric Shawn turned to the news that Aetna is the latest major insurance company to abandon most ObamaCare exchanges. "They lost $200-million in the second quarter this year," he declared, "because too many sick and high-risk people have been signing up but not enough young, healthy people. 40 insurance companies have already dropped out, which means people will not have a choice. The cost of an ObamaCare policy is also going up."
Perino on the State of the 2016 Race
Fox News analyst and former Bush aide Dana Perino, who has been under fire from some of her fellow Republicans, entered the No Spin Zone to elaborate. "A lot of Republicans expect me to be a cheerleader," she groused, "but that's not my job. I also saw what happened in 2012 when Republicans were sold a bill of goods that Republicans were going to win. People want me to say things are looking up for Trump, but no candidate who has been this far behind in August has ever gone on to win. The candidate and his supporters are starting to tell people that the polls are rigged, but they are not. I don't want the Republicans to lose, I believe in conservative values, but I also don't think it is right to tell people we are going to win this."
Watters' World: WTC Mall Edition
Jesse Watters visited a new shopping mall that has opened at the site of the former World Trade Center. Here's what a few shoppers told him: "The design and the beauty are gorgeous" ... "I'm a big fan" ... "Places like this give people a sense of peace" ... "This was definitely worth the $6-billion, I feel like I'm in the future" ... "This is a fantastic mall and it's great that we rose from something that was terrible." Back in the studio, Watters also lauded the high-priced mall. "Visually it's worth $6-billion, but some of the stores only you could afford to shop in. It's very high end, it's spectacular." The Factor joined the near-unanimous praise, saying, "Our way of life was attacked, but we came back with this symbol of prosperity."
Viewers Sound Off
Factor Words of the Day
Steve Tallent, Atlanta, GA: "The top reason I hear from my black friends who don't like Trump is that he bought into the birther movement."

Joe Clinard, New York, NY: "Perhaps blacks should consider the old adage: If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got."

Barbara Smith, Sumter, SC: "These stupid attitudes from people like Beck and Bill Kristol are crazy. We have no other choice but Trump because Democrats are destroying the country."

Steve Herlich, Delray Beach, FL: "Geraldo is a Hillary operative. He never says anything good about Trump."
Freedom of Religion & Swimwear
At least one city in France has banned so-called 'burquinis,' the full head-to-toe garment that some Muslim women wear to go swimming. But burquinis hurt no one and people should be free to wear what they choose.
