The best perk of my job is going to the White House. Magical place, no matter who is sitting behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. I have been invited by Bush the Younger, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. Tremendous experience every time.
So it was last Wednesday that I was ushered into a meeting with President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The primary topic was Iran; a frustrating situation that will influence the midterm vote. To his credit, Mr. Trump knows I did not cheerlead the confrontation because I understand the mentality of political fanatics. Dealing with them rationally is almost impossible even though confronting Iran on nukes and terrorism is the right thing to do.

Millions of Americans don’t see it that way, and the so-called “free world” is not helping marginalize the Mullahs. We have seen this before throughout history. The USA usually has to confront evil while Spain and the others run and hide.
But it is inside America that the Iran situation is taking a heavy toll. Congress may be altered because of high consumer prices. That is driven by the Iranian action.
The Democrats are calling the situation “Trump’s war” or an “illegal war.” Apparently, the party would surrender to Tehran. The only Democrat who sees that danger is Senator John Fetterman.
Back to the Oval Office. President Trump believes the US intel that says Iran will soon collapse because food and other necessities are running out. Former CIA Director David Petraeus backed that up in a Wall Street Journal column last week.
The anti-Trump media pretty much ignored the General’s assessment, which is what the pro-Democrat media does.
The President asked for my opinion. Without violating any privacy, I was there as an ordinary citizen; I told him that the administration should prepare to destroy non-military targets even though the world would not support that kind of action.
To me, Iran has had more than enough time to be reasonable. The Strait of Hormuz is 70 percent open, and the Iranian people are ready to revolt. However, one final, violent push will most likely be necessary.
If that happens, the Democrats and their media allies will run wild. That’s a given. And, sadly, many American voters will support the Dems. My analysis is not partisan. I want what is best for the nation. Weakness is not a plus.

We also talked about major corporations like Disney suppressing the news in order to weaken the President. The Founders who devised First Amendment protections for the press could never have anticipated that. What we have now is a Constitutional protection for corruption. The Supreme Court needs to take a hard look at that scenario.
As I write in my new book “Confronting America”, most of the countries problems can be solved with intelligence and discipline. But Iran may be an exception. Those killers apparently are willing to destroy their own country.
Very tough situation, obviously. But it’s coming to a head soon.
