Bill & Beck on Michael Cohen's Guilty Plea, the Possibility of Impeachment, and the Mollie Tibbetts Murder

This week there was a lot of breaking news, which is unusual for the end of summer! Beck decided to start the program with the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort situations from this week. Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal attorney, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to eight criminal counts including tax fraud, false statements to a bank and campaign finance violations tied to his work for Trump. Manafort was convicted of five counts of tax fraud, two counts of bank fraud and one count of failure to disclose a foreign bank account. Bill responds by saying Manafort doesn’t really have much to do with the country as it stands now unless he decides to accuse President Trump of something, but he deserves to go to prison. Trump has not ruled out pardoning Manafort which Beck and Bill both agree would be a gigantic mistake. Bill says that he doesn’t think that a man who cheats on his taxes at that level deserves a pardon.

It is clear that the U.S. Justice Department, under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, is allowing plea bargains in order to get something on their boss, President Trump. Trump denies that he used campaign funds to pay off Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, so Bill says he doesn’t understand why this is even a big deal. If the money came from private funds, then there is no crime. Both of these stories, Cohen and Manafort, really don’t have any importance to the American people unless Trump is somehow involved. The only effect that these stories about Manafort and Cohen will have on the U.S. is when it comes to the midterms, unless Trump regains momentum. The current momentum is against Republicans, and if Trump wants to hold the House, he has to regain that trust in his base and illegal immigration is probably the way he’s going to accomplish that.

Now, if the U.S. had an honest media, they would be defending Trump. They would say that this isn’t good for the country and the Justice Department is going on this wild goose chase to try to get the president. Instead, the national media is a lynch mob that is encouraging the exposition to bring down the president.

Beck brings up the topic of IF Trump is impeached from office and IF there is evidence that he was using campaign funds to pay off these women, then this is Watergate. What would that do to the country? Do Trump’s followers just let this happen? Or, do they cry injustice and not let it go? Does Trump take the same action as Nixon and resign or would he go through the whole trial? First of all, Bill says there would have to be very vivid proof that Trump was involved in these crimes. Bill says he knows Trump very well and that he wouldn’t make mistakes like this. These women that are making claims that Trump paid them “hush” money are basically extortionists. However, this story is not as clear-cut as the media wants it to be and if they’re relying on Michael Cohen and David Pecker, the Publisher of the National Enquirer, then Trump has a fighting chance.

Beck asks Bill: if Democrats take control of the House will they impeach Trump? Bill says that it is a risk. If Democrats impeach him on nothing, then they’re ensuring his re-election in 2020 because Americans are not stupid, and they’ll see right through this.

In the last segment, Beck brings up the interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo and Kellyanne Conway about Mollie Tibbetts and illegal immigration. After listening to their spat, Bill points out that Cuomo says, “at least you should do whatever you can to mitigate the illegal immigration problem.” Now, Kellyanne Conway was the guest, not the host, but Bill says that if it were him debating Chris Cuomo then he would have stopped the interview right there and said ‘Ok, you want to make the illegal immigration situation a little more protective for American citizens, right?’ Cuomo would have to say yes, but Bill would ask ‘how he would want to do that?’ And Cuomo couldn’t answer because he opposes every single way to provide more protection for Americans. Cuomo doesn’t want a wall, he doesn’t want ICE agents raiding worksites, he doesn’t want sanctions against sanctuary cities that protect criminal illegal aliens. If you want hypocrisy, there you go. Cuomo tells his audience to do whatever they can to improve the illegal immigration problem, but he opposes every single thing that has been proposed to do that.
