Bill & Beck on Roseanne, Corporate Politics, and the Current Media Mess

Bill was back on the Blaze with Beck on Friday to discuss a variety of topics, but their main focus was the current state of hate in America.

Beck starts off the interview by asking Bill about his thoughts on Roseanne Barr, Samantha Bee, and Joy Reid. Beck says that while a company has the right to fire people, he doesn’t want anyone to lose their job over something they said. Bill breaks down all three stories, beginning with Roseanne Barr. He says that ABC knows that she’s an unstable person, but they hired her back because ABC didn’t have any high rating primetime shows. The show was extremely successful and everyone at the company seemed to be happy, but then Memorial Day weekend came. Bill says he thinks that Roseanne got “smashed” and made this terrible comment on twitter about Valerie Jarrett. ABC then had to cancel the show, because if they didn’t then the same people who boycotted Beck, Bill, Hannity and Laura Ingraham would have been standing in front of Disney World with signs saying, “Disney is racist” and “Mickey Mouse is a fascist,” etc. Disney can’t afford to have tens of thousands of people boycotting their parks. Bill goes on to say that he feels bad for Roseanne because she’s a troubled woman who didn’t have control of her actions. However, Bill also feels terrible for Valerie Jarrett who he knows quite well and she didn’t do anything to deserve this comment. So, there are no winners in this case.

Moving on to Samantha Bee and her grotesque and hateful comments aimed at Ivanka Trump this week, Bill says that Bee is a hater and that’s how she makes her money. Bee’s program “Full Frontal” is all about demeaning and diminishing conservatives, Republicans, and pro-Trump Americans. Bee isn’t a stupid woman. She made these comments just days after the Roseanne controversy and her writers, producers, and TBS knew what she was going to say. Beck disagrees, saying that Bee is not a hater, but she’s a person who lives in a bubble where everyone reinforces her beliefs. So Bee has completely lost all perspective and she feels justified in making those comments.

The last person in this week’s media mess is Joy Reid. Beck says there’s no doubt that she should be fired because she’s a journalist, not an entertainer, and she’s lying. Reid started an FBI investigation, she said that her own forensics showed that her website had been hacked and then her forensics team came out and said no, that’s not what we said, the website was not hacked. Reid was blatantly lying. Bill says he doesn’t know too much about Reid, but from the looks of it, the standards at MSNBC are pretty low. Reid most likely won’t face many, if any repercussions.

In the following segment, Beck brings up President Trump pardons. Dinesh D’Souza was the first person this week to receive a pardon from President Trump. D’Souza went to prison for something that no one should have been prosecuted for, which was a campaign contribution violation. Bill says that Trump loves having power and one of the prerogatives of a president is that you can pardon anyone you want, so he’s going to use that. Trump understands that D’Souza is an ally and went to prison for something he shouldn’t have. Beck moves on to the possible pardon of Martha Stewart who went to prison for insider trading. Bill says that she’s another person who paid a higher price than she should have. Stewart would have been pardoned if Bill was president because he believes that she has suffered enough. The last person on the Trump’s pardon list, so far, is Rod Blagojevich. He was caught selling the Senate seat of Barack Obama! Bill says that he would not have pardoned Former Governor Blagojevich, but he believes the reason Trump is pardoning him is that he knows him personally and in addition to that, Blagojevich's wife made a very emotional appeal. However, he doesn’t deserve to get out of prison right now, but with these pardons you have to take them case by case.

Bill ends the interview saying that on some levels, Trump is the most human president that we’ve had in decades. Trump wants to have some fun so that’s why he makes some of the decisions that he does, like inviting Kim Kardashian West to the White House. As crazy as some of the things that Trump does, the economy keeps getting better, and if it continues on that path then in October the Republicans are going to win.
