Bill & Beck on the DACA Deal, Statues, & ESPN
Bill joined Glenn Beck on The Blaze radio Thursday for another of their weekly tête-à-têtes. Beck began by expressing his disgust with President Trump's deal with Democratic leaders regarding DACA and border security. "Trump got nothing good out of this," Beck declared, "at least that we know of. A good deal would have included real border controls and immigration reform. Somebody's getting played, and it's not Chuck or Nancy."
Bill, however, advised Beck to avoid jumping to negative conclusions: "Nancy Pelosi and Charles Schumer want to destroy Donald Trump and they know the fastest way to do that is to get Trump's base angry with him. Therefore, anything that Schumer and Pelosi say should be thrown out the window. But no one, including the president, knows how this DACA thing will turn out because Congress has to actually write a bill. Republicans will write a bill and there could be anything in it, so Trump has no input into what will actually happen to the 'Dreamers.' So all of us who want the best for our country should stop the speculation and wait until this bill comes out."
Bill also tried to discern President Trump's motives: "Trump does not want to deport these 'Dreamers,'" Bill said, "because polls overwhelmingly show that most Americans want a fair deal. He is not going to deport 800,000 people! Everybody knows it's not going to happen, so let's stop the B.S. and get a fair bill that will end the anarchy." Bill added that President Trump has already secured the border, although Beck contended that any other Republican president would have done the same.
The duo turned to President Trump's long-standing vow to build a "big, beautiful wall." "There's not going to be any wall in the bill about the 'Dreamers,'" Bill predicted, "and some people will be angry about that. But Trump is going to build his wall and he doesn't need congressional approval to do it. It will be in certain places where it's easier to smuggle narcotics. Trump knows he has to build the wall, but he won't get permission from Congress to do it because there are not enough votes."
Beck then asked Bill about the statue situation that continues to roil the country. "You and I are of one mind on this," Bill said, "because we both said this would not end with Robert E. Lee. They're coming after Washington and Jefferson and other Founding Fathers. Black Lives Matter and other radical groups are now demanding that the statute of Thomas Jefferson be taken down in Charlottesville, even though Jefferson founded the University of Virginia."
Bill advised Beck's audience to read the soon-to-be-released "Killing England," which peels back the layers and reveals what Thomas Jefferson was like as a man. He also tried to explain what the far left really wants: "This is not about the statues," Bill theorized, "it's about undermining the entire Constitution. The far left believes we are a nation founded by white supremacists and we need a new Constitution. They want to replace the Constitution with a socialist manifesto."
Beck and Bill wrapped up their conversation with their respective thoughts on ESPN, whose host Jemele Hill slandered President Trump as a racist. "ESPN will fire anyone who has a non-progressive view," Beck groused, "and they will cheer on anyone who has a progressive, PC view."
Bill added that Hill and others are badly damaging the ESPN brand: "ESPN is a shadow of what it used to be and it's not coming back. People watch that network for sports, not to see someone like Jemele Hill accuse the president of being a 'white supremacist.' Disney owns ESPN and Disney has no respect for the conservative thought process. But I wouldn't fire her, I'd just tell her that she has no idea what she's talking about. She can't back up her statement and she is denigrating the country."
Bill concluded by amusing Beck with his ability to squeeze in one final plug for "Killing England." Did we mention that it's coming out next week? Yes, we probably did.
