Another shooting confrontation between federal officers and civilians, this one in Portland, Oregon.  No surprise it happened there.  Like Minneapolis, Portland is run by radical leftists who encourage “resistance” against immigration law and those who enforce it.

This is the most important point in the growing controversy.  The far left is simply refusing to obey the law and believes it is righteous in doing so.

We saw this in the late 1960s when leftist young people defied the draft during the Vietnam War.  Violent clashes broke out. National Guardsmen shot four people dead at Kent State in Ohio.  Eventually, the country turned against the war, and those who broke the law were given amnesty by President Carter.

That is not likely to happen in the immigration situation because the country elected Donald Trump to stop the madness.   However, the feds should use as much restraint as possible.  Violence begets violence.

As I said on the No Spin News, a number of states are in rebellion against the federal government.  That situation will have to be confronted.

New column on Sunday.  Enjoy the weekend.
