The other day, I bought a copy of Mao’s Little Red Book. First edition. Every Chinese citizen is required to know it, so I wanted to keep pace.
As we document in “Confronting Evil,” the dictator is the worst mass murderer in history, exterminating at least ten million of his own people beginning in 1945, not that long ago. Hitler and Stalin combined were not as bad.
There are no pictures of Adolph in Germany and few of Stalin in Russia, although Putin is trying to bring him back. However, Mao’s image is all over China. Even at the Great Wall.

The gist of Mao’s book is that human beings have no rights; the “state” dictates how everything is run. No real voting, due process, or dissent. You do what the leadership tells you to do or are charged with “crimes against the people.” Which could be anything.
Also, you cannot have assets unless the state says you can. All private property can be seized. This, of course, is state-sanctioned theft.

The Bible condemns theft and encourages free enterprise. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells the story of three workers given money by their employer with instructions to build the gift. Two of the workers do and are praised. The third buries the money and returns no profit. He is labeled “wicked.”
The gist of the story is that God has given every person gifts, and they should be used in a positive way.
But Communists often don’t believe in God or personal gifts. Everything you have really belongs to the state, which can appropriate your skills and treasure at will.
Incredibly, this kind of totalitarian thinking is taking root in America. Zohran Mamdani, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Elizabeth Warren all say they are “democratic socialists.”
Balderdash. They are communists. They believe the free market is rigged and that the government should be running the economy. DC will dictate who gets what, not the private marketplace.
The United States fought the Cold War to stop communism. Now millions of Americans, especially younger voters, want Mamdani and others to make new rules that will punish the wealthy and distribute free stuff to those not prospering, like substance abusers.

The new communists see themselves as noble and virtuous. They are on the march. Big money is behind the movement, some of it coming from China.
Most Americans don’t see the danger. But it’s in development and may be coming to a theater near you. This column is a preview of what could happen here. Wealth tax, me too, massive media propaganda, all contribute to state dominance.
It’s the Little Red Book vs. the Bible. Eventually, Americans will have to make the call.
