Saturday Night Live opened its show this weekend by mocking hysteria over the migrant caravan. No surprise, as SNL knows its audience is primarily liberal so it usually plays to that. Later in the program, the show mocked a Republican Texas political candidate who lost an eye serving in Afghanistan. To say the satirical review has lost its way is the understatement of the century. I’ll deal with this tonight.

There is no question that the caravan has become yet another flash point in the social civil war that is raging in America, and the migrant march to the US border has become a major campaign issue as well.

As you may know, I have suggested that Congress pass revised immigration legislation that is fair and tough. Immigration laws must be enforced or the nation drifts into anarchy and Americans get hurt. The Steinle family and thousands of others have suffered grievously from lax enforcement on illegal immigration.

It is almost beyond comprehension that the Democratic Party basically supports open borders and is fine with providing welfare payments to millions of undocumented aliens when the country is $22 trillion in debt.

The Dems oppose Kate’s Law, that would provide mandatory prison time for foreign criminals who return after being deported. The party says no to a border wall and on going custody for illegal border crossers. The Dems generally support Sanctuary Cities and, as we are seeing now, are fine with thousands of organized asylum seekers sieging US ports of entry. The party has no problem with “anchor babies.”

Think about those things for a moment. How destructive to the country is the open border philosophy?

Catastrophically destructive.

Yet the left mocks those who want border security and protective laws. They brand those who speak out as racist. SNL does what it does and its liberal audience giggles and feels righteous.

But anarchy is no laughing matter as people die. Kate Steinle’s legacy should be known by every single American.
