So where’s Barack? We don’t mean geographically; no doubt he’s at one of his palatial estates. But what about politically? Where is Barack Obama as his Democratic Party gets gobbled up in a hostile takeover by socialists and communists, Trotskyites and Marxists?
The radical Democratic candidates go way beyond Graham Platner, who was finally forced out of the Senate race in Maine. New Jersey Dems nominated Adam Hamawy, who stood as a character witness for a notorious terrorist. Abdul Al-Sayed, who endorsed ‘defund the police’ and lied about being a physician, may be Michigan’s Democratic nominee for the Senate. New York Democrats picked House candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier, who wipes her hand on the American flag if there’s not a napkin available. To the west in Colorado, 29-year-old perpetual student and 9/11 apologist Melat Kiros will run for a seat in the U.S. House. The beat goes on – across the country there are young candidates whose love of socialism is rivaled only by their hatred of ICE, capitalism, cops, America, and Israel, not necessarily in that order.
A few old-school Democrats are terrified and sounding the alarm. Loudest among them is former Clintonite James Carville. Obama’s former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who seems to have presidential aspirations, also warns that the ‘socialist wing’ is taking the party down a dark path. But where’s his former boss?
Barack Obama hung out with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, reading to young kids in The Bronx alongside the Ugandan-born communist. He also chowed down some tacos in Texas with Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, whose radicalism makes him a long shot in the Lone Star State. But as far as official endorsements or pronouncements go, the former president has been conspicuously quiet.
Obama was, of course, visible at the opening of his presidential center in Chicago last month, displaying his usual studied ‘cool’ and making the rounds of friendly and worshipful media outlets. But is President Obama distressed by what’s happening? Or is he secretly relishing the party’s transformation?
Writing in the Jewish publication The Tablet, author Liel Leibovitz actually blames Obama for initiating the Democrats’ decline. This is his take: “Under Obama, the Democrats became a gorgeous mosaic of victimized minorities, encouraged to seek retribution for wrongs real or perceived by grabbing a pitchfork and going out in search of a conservative to blame.”
It’s worth pondering whether Barack Obama will campaign with any of the new radicals, and even whether they want his endorsement. To many young lefties, he is a relic, a standard-issue Democrat well past his sell-by date. The First Black President is still adored by legions of older Democrats, but to the far-left base he is increasingly irrelevant.
There was actually a cult sci-fi 1957 movie called ‘The Incredible Shrinking Man,’ in which the main character eventually can be seen only with a microscope. President Barack Obama isn’t there yet, but he certainly seems to be getting smaller by the day.
