The ongoing battle between the national press and President Trump will not have a happy ending for the country.  Already, the annual White House Christmas party for the media is in doubt, and the Washington Correspondents dinner is a shadow of what it used to be with the President not participating.

On the home front, millions of Americans are pulling the plug on cable TV, almost all newscasts are losing viewers year-to-year, and polls say Americans no longer trust the press to report truthfully.

On the other side, President Trump’s anti-press attitude will ensure vicious coverage in his quest for a second term.  Whoever gets the Democratic Party’s nomination will enjoy nearly universal press acceptance.

From my vantage point, I see many Americans disengaging from traditional news sources and finding information elsewhere.  The folks have had enough Acosta and Maddow.  It is exhausting to listen to the hate-Trump stuff but just as enervating to watch the President’s defense mechanisms.  Which way is out?

Some of my viewers ask why I even cover the press anymore.  They don’t see the relevance.  Upon reflection, I understand their point.  The media show is largely done, please turn out the lights.

But because I have 45 years invested in journalism, it is still a passion for me.  I know it’s mostly over and the vast corruption that destroyed the information industry makes me furious.

That’s something I will still have to deal with, but not as much as I did before.

Tonight on the No Spin News beginning at 7 eastern time, we’ll continue our reporting on the migrant caravan and who is behind it.
