The very moving reaction to John McCain’s passing is both appropriate and encouraging.  The long time Senator suffered greatly for his country as a POW in Vietnam and then went on to distinguish himself as a national leader, receiving the Republican nomination for President in 2008.  Members of both political parties are praising Mr. McCain.

I knew John McCain a bit.  He often appeared on The Factor and gave me a nice review for one of my books.  He definitely did not have to do that.

Senator McCain had little regard for the press which he correctly believed leaned left and rooted for Democrats to win elections.  John McCain’s disenchantment with the media boiled over when The New York Times put a rumor of an affair on its front page - hoping it would damage McCain’s presidential campaign against Barack Obama.  Anonymous sources were the basis for the article.

The Senator remained livid over that throughout his life.  After the Times was sued, it was forced to issue a “Note to Readers” that it could not prove the affair.

You can decide whether the press is now being sincere in its laudatory tributes to the Senator.  But please notice the shots taken at President Trump in many of the McCain tributes.

The President and the Senator did not like each other.  I actually scolded Donald Trump to his face in an interview after he denigrated McCain’s war service during the presidential campaign. That was simply wrong, McCain was a hero.

John McCain got his revenge by being the swing vote in keeping much of Obamacare intact, after the President and Republicans had it on the ropes in the Senate.  I said then and believe now, that John McCain’s vote to save Obamacare had an anti-Trump element to it.

President Trump’s statement of sympathy for the grieving McCain family is perfectly appropriate.  He did not inject himself into the situation and his words were respectful.  Nevertheless, the hate-Trump media pounded him.

In the end, America is a better place because John McCain decided to serve his country.  We’ll have more about this and whether President Trump can regain momentum on Monday’s No Spin News.  Hope to see you then.
