The aftermath of the Republican debate is basically nothing. Polling will arrive shortly that will indicate if any candidate prospered on the Milwaukee stage, but it's unlikely.

As I analyzed, the debate format is essentially obsolete. Candidates bring in rehearsed answers, sometimes there's some back and forth, moderators can't correct much, and the whole thing is stale.

Mike Pence could run the country, but he's not engaging. Same thing with Ron DeSantis. Chris Christie is too angry. Vivek doesn't understand foreign policy.

Nikki Hailey is smart and experienced but certainly not a woman of the people. Tim Scott needs more experience.

The big problem is that Donald Trump is so overwhelming other politicians come across as bland. It's like a battle of the bands between The Rolling Stones and Lawrence Welk (look him up).

It might be that after Trump, bland may work.

Probably not.

Enjoy the weekend. See you Monday for a not bland at all "No Spin News."
