Trump, Clinton, and the Trust Factor
"A new Fox News poll looks at looks at whom American voters trust to do a better job on important issues: Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. The number one issue for American voters is the economy, and Trump wins on that issue by 53% to 41%. The second most important issue is terrorism, and here Americans once again favor Trump by 52% to 40%. Hillary Clinton prevails on health care, education, immigration, and social issues. You have to consider this poll good news for Donald Trump because the economy will be the driving issue in November and he wins on that. Talking Points was surprised that Mr. Trump did not prevail on immigration, which shows that most Americans do not want illegal aliens deported. But I do believe most Americans would like an effective wall on the southern border. The big headline this week is that Donald Trump is very competitive with Hillary Clinton, which most of the national press thought was impossible just a few weeks ago. Summing up, the more Donald Trump defines important issues, the better off he will be. And the more Hillary Clinton gets out of her campaign mode and into one-on-one communications like doing interviews with me and others who don't openly support her, the more currency she could gain. One footnote: Fox News also asked Americans how they feel after almost eight years of the Obama administration. Just 26% feel they are better off now than they were when Barack Obama was elected. It says a lot."

The Factor was joined by 'The Five' co-host and former Bush aide Dana Perino. "Those top two issues of the economy and terrorism say a lot," she began, "especially the fact that Donald Trump is beating Hillary Clinton by so much. These are two issues where Americans are frustrated with the government and they want an outsider. It's so hard for any party to hold on to the White House for more than two terms, and a lot of people see Hillary Clinton as a third Obama term and they feel there is a better approach. Also, the attempt to unify the Republican Party is having some effect." The Factor cautioned against reading too much into current polling, saying, "Events will overtake these polls, but they are entertaining to look at."
The Latest on EgyptAir Flight 804
Terror experts Jim Hanson and Aaron Cohen joined The Factor with the latest on the Egyptian passenger jet that vanished Thursday morning. "There is no logical explanation other than terrorism," Hanson declared, "so you have to start looking at who has a motive to do this. The easy suspect is ISIS, but this is Egypt and it's worth looking at the Muslim Brotherhood, which is a terrorist organization that was thrown out of power in Egypt." Cohen agreed that it was an act of terror, perhaps one that didn't require a large organization. "This is congruent with the typical thumbprint of the online radicalization involving social media. There are people who want to take the opportunity to take down a plane if it means doing harm to Paris. There was definitely some inside play going on here, and the question now is what other airports will do."
Black Lives Matter Controversy
33-year-old Charles Wade, who has been active in the Black Lives Matter group, has been arrested for human trafficking. FNC's Eric Bolling and Geraldo Rivera analyzed the troubling situation. "According to some reports," Bolling said, "Wade is a 'social justice warrior' who raises money and uses it to house and feed protesters. But it turns out that he allegedly was pimping a 17-year-old prostitute." Rivera denounced Wade as a man who is especially skilled in exploitation. "He doesn't seem to be in the leadership of Black Lives Matter, he's kind of a race hustler. He was raising $25,000 a week on Twitter and we don't know where the money went. But many of the people involved with Black Lives Matter are good spirits who want to help."
Chaos in the Democratic Party
Some Bernie Sanders loyalists stand accused of threatening Hillary Clinton backers in Nevada and elsewhere. The Factor spoke about the disorder with attorney and Sanders supporter Andell Brown. "We had a contested event in Nevada," he said, "and some Sanders supporters said the counts were irregular and the rules were changed at the last minute. The crowd was unhappy with the outcome. But Bernie Sanders has condemned violence in all forms." The Factor reminded him, "There have been rallies where Sanders supporters clashed with traditional Democrats and he should tell his people to never do that again."
Will the Media Give Trump a Chance?
In the wake of the New York Times hit piece on Donald Trump, The Factor asked Bernie Goldberg whether the mainstream media is capable of giving Trump a fair shot. "You raised an interesting question," Goldberg said, "which is whether a feminist can cover someone who puts on pageants where beautiful women stroll around half-naked. The answer is that if a reporter thinks beauty pageants are a crime against humanity, of course not. But you can have an opinion and not be disqualified from covering a story. If I am an editor, I would ask the reporter if he or she can be fair." But The Factor put forth some unassailable logic: "If you're a Quaker, you can't cover a war because you believe that anyone participating in war is wrong."
Trump Tower Edition
Jesse Watters paid a visit to Trump Tower, the capital of Donald Trump's empire as well as his residence. Watters learned that condominiums in the building start at around $5-million and go up to about $25-million. Then, doing his best to cause trouble, Watters went to the on-site currency exchange and purchased some Mexican pesos. He also tried on a 'Make America Great Again' hat, sampled some Trump cologne, and dined on a taco bowl. Finally, Watters made his way to Trump's office, where he presented the man himself with an autographed photo. Trump, known for his candor, had obvious difficulty hiding his disappointment.
Viewers Sound Off
Factor Words of the Day
Ron Lee, Tucson, AZ: "Bill O, Bernie Sanders is not proposing anything like you say. You make him sound like he is proposing communism. You should straighten up and report right."

Bob Gruchalla, Rogue River, OR: "Bernie wants to provide young people with free education and room and board. That federal program already exists: the military."

Bill Fortney, Evansville, IN: "Nearly choked when Dennis Miller quipped that buffalo and bison can share the same bathrooms. Thanks, I needed the laugh."
A Tip for Hillary Clinton
Bernie Sanders has agreed to take part in a debate on Fox News just prior to the California primary, but Hillary Clinton has not committed. The Factor offered some unsolicited advice to Mrs. Clinton, saying, "Lots of folks who might be skeptical about you will be watching that debate and you might impress them and get some votes in the general election."
