Monday: Donald Trump Reacts to the Latest Polls
Terrorism and the American Left
Guest: Charles Krauthammer

In the Talking Points Memo, The Factor argued liberals like Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) advocate for gun control after terror attacks because their instinct is to blame America first for problems.

"Now the reason Clyburn brought up guns in conjunction with Orlando is because the left in general does not want the American people to focus on the danger from ISIS, a Muslim-hate group," The Factor said. "That does not play into the narrative of the far left who believe that America is the source of much of the trouble in the world."

The Factor explained that it is far easier for liberals to blame America for the world's problems rather than external threats.

"So forget about ISIS, it's all about the USA allowing guns to kill people," The Factor said. "Refocusing the overseas terror problem on the USA is a strategy."

Dr. Charles Krauthammer then joined The Factor, where he argued that turning the conversation to gun control was an attempt to obscure the fact that Obama's ISIS strategy has failed.

"Look I think it's absolutely right that the left needs to point to gun control as a distraction from the fact that policy that Obama, representing the left, has pursued for seven-and-a-half years has demonstrably failed. ... they know how to talk about guns, they don't know how to elaborate, execute a policy against ISIS," Krauthammer said
Trump on The Factor
Guest: Donald Trump

The Factor asked presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump where he thought things stood in his race against Hillary Clinton.

Trump said he thought things were "very close," but that it was too early to pay attention to polls. Trump said he viewed the Republican Convention in July as his true starting point in the race against Clinton. "We haven't even gotten started yet," Trump said.

The conversation then turned to terrorism, where Trump excoriated Obama for failing to put the correct label on ISIS, saying that he is upset that Obama "is afraid or doesn't want to mention the words 'radical Islamic terrorism.'"

"How do you solve a problem if you're unwilling to discuss it or unwilling to name it?" Trump asked.

The Factor then asked Trump about gun control. Trump said he opposed banning certain types of weapons. "Once you start, where do you end?"
Shakeup for the Trump Campaign
Guest: Donald Trump

The Factor asked Trump why he fired his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski Monday.

"He's a good guy, he's a friend of mine, but I think it's time now for a different kind of campaign," Trump said.

The Factor asked when Trump would announce his running mate. Trump said he was looking for someone with good judgment, and that he would not announce his choice until the convention.

Near the end of the segment, Trump decided to hit back at one of his fiercest critics, Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic senator from Massachusetts. Trump said he regretted calling her Pocahontas because "it's a tremendous insult to Pocahontas."
Hume Reacts To Trump Interview
Guest: Brit Hume

The Factor asked Fox News Senior Political Analyst Brit Hume if Trump was smart to stick with the NRA in opposing nearly all gun control measures.

"The last thing needs to do at this point is to alienate parts of the standard Republican base," Hume said, arguing it was good politics for Trump to stand with the NRA.

The Factor next asked Hume for his thoughts on the Obama administration's refusal to use the phrase "Islamic terrorism."

"If you look at the results, Bill, this effort to kind of soft-pedal the religious component of this terrorism has not worked," Hume said.
Orlando 911 Transcript Controversy
Guests: Mary Anne Marsh & Katie Pavlich

The Justice Department on Monday released a transcript of the Orlando shooter's 911 call, but redacted all of his references to the terror group ISIS. After an uproar, the Justice Department reversed itself and said it would release the uncensored transcript.

Katie Pavlich said the Justice Department was still holding back on information about the attack. "There's 20 more minutes of transcript that we haven't even seen," Pavlich said. She also pointed out that the American people still were not permitted to listen to the audio.

Mary Anne Marsh said she agreed with the initial decision to leave out references to ISIS, but that the Obama administration was almost forced to reverse themselves because FBI Director James Comey last week already revealed the Orlando killer had pledged allegiance to ISIS.

"The United States government isn't going to become an ISIS propaganda machine," Marsh said.
Oddest Factor Highlights
Jesse Watters had the night off, so The Factor tried to replicate the insanity of Watters' World by sharing three of the wackiest interviews ever to appear on the show, all of them with puppets: Triumph the Insult Dog in 2004, Alf in 2007, and Jeff Dunham's Walter puppet in 2010.
Vin Scully and Socialism
"As you may know, I'm a pretty big sports fan and the best sportscaster in history in my opinion is Vin Scully, who does play-by-play for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"Mr. Scully is 88 years old has been doing his job for 67 years.

"He usually keeps his eye on the ball but over the weekend he talked a little politics.

VIN SCULLY: "Socialism failing to work, as it always does, this time in Venezuela. You talk about giving everybody something free and all of a sudden, there's no food to eat. And who do you think is the richest person in Venezuela? The daughter of Hugo Chavez. Hello! Anyway, 0-and-2."

"Factor tip of the day, Vin Scully is a legend. This is his last season so if you can hear him, you should. And he's 100% right about socialism."
