The First Challenge to President-elect Donald Trump
"One of Mr. Trump's most vivid campaign promises was this: 'We will end the sanctuary cities that have resulted in so many needless deaths. Cities that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities will not receive taxpayer dollars.' But now a number of mayors across the country are defying the president-elect, saying they will not stop their sanctuary policies. Mayor Rahm Emanuel declared that Chicago 'always will be a sanctuary city.' By refusing to obey federal immigration law, some politicians are basically saying they want open borders. While most migrants are law-abiding people who just want to support themselves and their families, a number of them are criminals or layabouts simply here to exploit the USA. Those people become part of the sanctuary. You will remember that the thug who allegedly murdered Kate Steinle was released by the county of San Francisco after ICE requested that he be held in jail so the feds could pick him up. Kate Steinle is dead because San Francisco refuses to obey federal law. You would think any decent politician would learn a lesson from the Steinle case. But no, these mayors - all uber-liberals - believe they will harvest more votes by showing phony compassion than by promoting public safety and fighting anarchy. If the left believes everybody should be allowed into this country, say that. But know that sanctuary policies will never be able to tell the good from the bad and chaos will continue to rule. So it comes down to what Donald Trump will do to the mayors and counties that defy him on immigration law. He has to do something and we expect the showdown will develop quickly next year."
The Factor invited reaction from Newt Gingrich, who will likely be a close Trump adviser. "Rahm Emanuel is crazy," Gingrich declared. "His city is collapsing, there is one person shot every two hours, and he wants to stop the federal government from getting criminals! My advice to Donald Trump would be to ask his attorney general to direct immigration efforts in the sanctuary cities. Also, any mayor who tries to interpose himself against the federal government will be liable for prosecution. Finally, he should also ask Congress for authorization to cut off all federal aid to sanctuary cities. Part of the reason we are getting President Trump is that people are sick and tired of politicians like Rahm Emanuel." The Factor predicted, "I do think this will be on the top of President-elect Trump's agenda."

Battle Over Sanctuary Cities
Continuing on the subject of sanctuary cities, The Factor asked Kimberly Guilfoyle and Lis Wiehl to examine the legal aspects. "The federal government cannot compel any local agency to round up illegal aliens," Wiehl asserted. "Under the Tenth Amendment, any right not directly given to the feds is given to the states, and the feds cannot commandeer local agencies to arrest people." Guilfoyle elaborated on the separation of powers between the federal government and local authorities, saying, "The states are considered to be sovereign entities distinct from the federal government, which cannot usurp their authority." However, both Wiehl and Guilfoyle agreed that the federal government can force local authorities to hold on to criminal illegal immigrants who are already in custody.

Anti-Trump College Campus Chaos
In one more example of madness on American universities, George Mason University admissions official Andrew Bunting declared that any Trump voter is a 'piece of worthless trash.' He has not been disciplined by the school. The Factor asked Juan Williams and Lisa Boothe to weigh in. "I would suspend him for a week without pay," Williams said, "because the school should be clear that no one should be viewed as worthless because of their political belief. But he has the right to speak out and the kids who are protesting have the right to speak out." But Boothe contended that Bunting deserves to lose his job. "He should be fired because he is supposed to be objective in the admissions process. The university needs to do a review to make sure that no previous applicants were discriminated against because of their Christian beliefs or political ideology. He also needs emotional therapy."

Anti-Trump Demonstrations
Pastor Robert Jeffress, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, has seen his church besieged by dozens of protestors. Pastor Jeffress entered the No Spin Zone with his reaction. "I think they are really protesting our church's conservative belief system," he said. "We are not a 'hate church,' we are a church that embraces the tenets of historic Christianity as revealed in the Bible. There is nothing hateful about our members, who respond by taking coffee and donuts to the protesters." The Factor revealed that the leader of the Dallas protest, Dominique Alexander, was previously convicted for physically harming his girlfriend's two-year-old child.

Uninformed Protestors?
A Portland TV station did some digging and discovered that half of the anti-Trump protesters in that city did not even vote last week. Greg Gutfeld and Bernard McGuirk joined The Factor with their observations. "Half didn't vote and the other half voted for Fidel Castro," Gutfeld quipped. "They are reacting against democracy, so if they were really angry with the system they would go and loot a government office. But you can't steal shoes from the sanitation department. This is criminality!" McGuirk also mocked the ignorant Portland rioters. "In the past protesters were inspired by Martin Luther King and Gandhi, but this pathetic group is inspired by Chelsea Handler and Miley Cyrus crying on Instagram. These people are losers, they're part of the 'free stuff' brigade, and the media are egging them on."

Getting Young Kids to Read
Bill has teamed up with best-selling fiction author James Patterson to write a book called 'Give Please a Chance,' which is aimed at very young readers. Patterson entered the No Spin Zone and elaborated on the venture. "Parents and grandparents and uncles and aunts," Patterson said, "will have a lot of fun reading this book with the kids. There is also the idea that hundreds of thousands of kids will grow up being 'please' and 'thank you' kids. The pictures are great, kids will really enjoy it, and people should give this book to teachers at pre-schools." The Factor added, "Both James Patterson and I are donating all the proceeds from the book to charities that help children."

Viewers Sound Off
Jason DiSalvo, Congers, NY: "As a loyal Factor viewer for 15 years, I thought the Talking Points Memo entitled the Inclusion Delusion was the best and most honest I have seen."
Frankie Velasco, Clermont, FL: "Mr. Bill, you are no longer independent, you can now be officially included as a member in good standing of the GOP."
Timmy McDevitt, St. Petersburg, FL: "Although brilliant, the Talking Points will have no impact. Extreme liberals will never listen."
Bill Randall, Dallas, TX: "Bill, I applaud you not allowing Richard Goodstein to spin. You were brusque, but it was appropriate because he was distorting facts."
