Donald Trump and Terrorism ...
"Protests continue over the President's travel restrictions leveled at countries that have major problems controlling terrorists. The left's overreaction to this, branding it as anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant, is predictable. However, the Trump administration should have explained exactly why it has chosen seven countries on which to impose travel restrictions to the USA. It all comes down to terrorism. The President believes that Barack Obama was far too soft on the Islamic Jihad. He also believes that America needs tougher standards when it comes to admitting refugees and more domestic security overall. None of that is unreasonable, but in order to blunt anti-Trump propaganda, detailed explanations have to be given to the folks. Mr. Trump began that process today, saying 'terrorism is a fundamental threat to religious freedom.' Of course, the president is talking about Islamic Terrorism and therein lies a problem with the left. As we all know, they do not want Islamic terrorism to be identified. One of the nations that cannot send people to the USA for at least 90 days is Iran, which has again provoked the world by firing off a ballistic missile. The Trump administration has put Iran on notice and it looks like new economic sanctions on Iran will be forthcoming. The left, again, will not like that, but it is clear that the soft approach President Obama took to confronting terrorism is now being completely reversed. Apparently, President Trump had a rough conversation with the Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull. According to the Washington Post, Mr. Trump thinks that President Obama's deal to accept 1,250 refugees from an Australian detention center is bad for the USA. The White House now says the deal will go through, but it is clear President Trump is a confrontational guy. The refugee problem all over the world will not settle down until America and NATO begin establishing world order. Ironically, the left does not want that either. In fact, the liberal community worldwide opposes any aggressive action against terrorism or any intrusion into chaotic nations where the refugee problem is exploding. So, on the left, there is no solution. They simply accept the Jihad and the chaotic world that stems from it. Believe me, Donald Trump is not going to brook that."
Foreign policy analysts Gillian Turner and Nile Gardiner entered the No Spin Zone to opine on the temporary refugee ban. "This policy is bad for America," Turner pronounced, "because over the medium to longer term it will have the reverse consequences of what the administration intends. We have to overcome radical Islam ideologically, so we can't alienate all the Muslims around the world. We need help from some of the countries on this list." But Gardiner contended that the Trump refugee policy is eminently sensible. "This is designed to protect the American people and save American lives. If you look at what has happened in Europe, thanks to Angela Merkel's disastrous open borders policy, there is a massive security problem. ISIS is using the refugee flow to infiltrate Europe and will try the same thing in the United States."

Chris Christie & The Trump Administration
The Factor welcomed New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, an ardent supporter of Donald Trump's presidential campaign, who has been critical of the refugee freeze. "The ban wasn't communicated in the right way," he began, "so the left was allowed to mischaracterize a policy that has moved the country in the right direction. There was not enough communication even within the administration. The president has moved his policy to a very sensible place, he has made great progress in doing this, but he was let down by his people and was attacked in the media." Christie added that he did not join the administration because he was not offered a position enticing enough to step down as governor.

Sanctuary Insanity
Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro is again outraged, this time by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who says drunk driving is a minor offense not worthy of reporting an illegal alien to the feds. "As someone who has prosecuted these cases," she raged, "this man does not deserve to be the mayor of New York City. He says that if you're illegal and get a DWI, we're going to protect you in our sanctuary city. He has made a decision that if you are an American we are going to endanger your life, but if you're an illegal we'll protect you. He's a half-wit!" The Factor agreed, saying, "This is wrong morally and politically and in terms of public safety."

Sanctuary City Crackdown
For more on the sanctuary city controversy, The Factor was joined by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who is penalizing Travis County, home to Austin, for its sanctuary status. "Texas is not going to tolerate any sanctuary policies," he declared, "so yesterday I withheld $1.5-million in government grants to the Travis County Sheriff's Office. And today we introduced legislation that will put the hammer down on Travis County or any other sanctuary area. We are seeking fines and court orders that will compel a sheriff to comply with the law."

Super Bowl Interview with Donald Trump
With his Super Bowl interview with President Trump just three days away, The Factor asked Bernie Goldberg what he would ask the president. "Don't do a policy interview," Goldberg advised, "but ask out-of-the-ordinary questions. I would ask this: 'Mr. President, powerful people often get into trouble because they pay too much attention to their supporters and not enough attention to their critics. Is there anything your critics that can tell you that would make you a better president?' If he says no, you've made news, and if he says yes, you can ask him what he can learn from his critics." The Factor gave a preview of the interview, saying, "I have to get into the policy aspects because so much is happening so quickly and I have the opportunity to sit across from him and ask him."

Cowardly College Administrators
Many university presidents are way, way too tolerant when dealing with violent protesters who shut down speakers with whom they disagree. Wise up, you poltroons, and stop the madness!
