Investigating National Security Leaks
"Coming out of all the chaos surrounding the Russian hacking and President Trump's allegation that President Obama somehow tapped Trump Tower during the campaign should be indictments against those who leak national security information. As we reported, there are only two stone cold facts in this entire debacle. First, that General Michael Flynn was captured on a wiretap talking to the Russian ambassador, perhaps from Flynn's office in Trump Tower. That tap happened but we do not know who ordered it and how it went down. Obviously the American people are entitled to know. The second fact is two-fold: Someone leaked the conversations between Flynn and the Russian ambassador to the press. That's a felony so we need to know who the leaker is. Associated with that, then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch, working for President Obama, ordered the rules about shared intelligence information changed just days before the president left office. Why did she do that? Did the president order the change? Again, we need to know. That's important because by the National Security Agency sharing raw information with the FBI, CIA and other intel agencies, you open up the potential for leaks. And that's exactly what happened. As soon as President Trump took office, his phone calls to the Mexican president, the Australian prime minister, and other high level officials were leaked to the press. So in effect the Obama administration may have created chaos for the Trump administration by allowing unsubstantiated intelligence information to be spread across a number of agencies. This is big if that were done intentionally to harm the incoming president - that's subversion. So you can see that Congress must get to the bottom of the situation. There are investigations in the House and the Senate to find out if Russian officials colluded with the Trump campaign. So far there is no evidence of that. We also don't know anything solid about wiretaps and leaks concerning Donald Trump. And we need to know."
The Factor continued with Senator Tom Cotton, a member of the Intelligence Committee. "Senator David Purdue and I went to the White House today to meet with President Trump," Cotton said, "and we had a very productive meeting. We talked about the economy, taxes, ObamaCare, and immigration, but didn't ask him about the alleged wiretapping. I look forward to moving as quickly as we can in the Intelligence Committee." Cotton outlined the scope of his committee's investigation. "The intelligence community concluded that Russian intelligence services were behind that hacking into the DNC and Hillary Clinton's campaign manager. There have also been fantastical claims about relationships between Donald Trump associates and Russian officials. That will be part of our investigation. These leaks are damaging to national security and raise the prospect of serious criminal behavior."

Getting to the Bottom of the Russia Issue
The conservative legal group Judicial Watch has filed suit against some government agencies, requesting transcripts from wiretaps The Factor spoke with the organization's president Tom Fitton. "There was leaking of classified information," Fitton said, "including the fact that there were wiretaps. We asked specifically for those types of records and we got an interesting response from the National Security Agency, which says it can neither confirm nor deny they have any records about that. We're waiting for responses from all the agencies, and it will be hard for them to say no. The irony is that Trump appointees will be trying to figure out how to respond to our requests, and I think we'll get responses within months."

Trump Facing Personal Attacks
The vile attacks on Donald Trump by progressives are actually increasing. Juan Williams and Lisa Boothe examined the situation. "Typically there is a great deal of deference given to the president," Williams began, "but some of this has to do with history, going back to Clinton and impeachment, Bush and weapons of mass destruction, and Obama and the birther movement. People feel they are responding to someone who has insulted them." Boothe accused Democrats of launching constant attacks for political gain. "They are trying to placate their liberal base, that's their audience in this effort to delegitimize Donald Trump. The problem is with the media, which is discrediting itself in its effort to discredit Donald Trump."

Analyzing the Republican Healthcare Plan
House Republicans have put forth a new health law that is already being pummeled from both sides. Former White House advisor Dana Perino examined the bill and what comes next. "This comes down to fulfilling a campaign promise," she began. "Republicans and President Trump campaigned on replacing ObamaCare, but some conservatives don't like this version because the Medicaid expansion was allowed to stay. President Obama spent a lot of time and political capital on his bill, and I wonder if President Trump will be willing to do the same thing. I don't think it will be good if President Trump passes a Republican-only bill."

Refusing to Cooperate
Washington Governor Jay Inslee, a liberal Democrat, has vowed to defy federal requests for detainers on illegal immigrants. The Factor asked Eboni Williams and Kimberly Guilfoyle to elaborate. "An arrest warrant is supported by probable cause and he cannot ignore that," Guilfoyle explained, "but a detainer is merely a request and he is not under obligation to comply with ICE." Williams suggested that Governor Inslee is trying to help the system run more smoothly. "If Washington State complied with every detainer, it would clog the docket and further disrupt the broken immigration system." The Factor responded, "That hasn't happened in Texas and Florida, they haven't clogged any dockets, so that is a feeble excuse."

Ben Carson's Controversial Comments
Liberals have been pounding Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson because he referred to slaves as 'immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships.' The Factor explored the controversy with Greg Gutfeld and Bernard McGuirk. "When Ben Carson says this it's idoitic," Gutfeld observed, "but when President Obama says it, it's brilliant. He made the very same comparison of slaves and immigrants." McGuirk pointed out that Ben Carson is generally loathed by the chattering classes. "When you're a black Trump supporter or official, you are in the leftist crosshairs. They want him and Trump to fail miserably and they'll come after them."

Viewers Sound Off
Julian West, Lakewood, CO: "O'Reilly, you are misleading your audience. General Flynn was not wiretapped, the Russian ambassador was. There is a difference."
Earle Robinson, Bronx, NY: "President Obama is not a stupid guy. He would not order Trump to be tapped illegally. Are you guys at Fox angry about what could be on the transcripts?"
Francesco Tenti, Huntington, NY: "Charles Krauthammer comparing what citizen Trump said about Barack Obama's birthplace to the relentless attempts to destroy Trump's presidency is intellectually dishonest."
John Eubanks, Kileen, TX: "Krauthammer is right when he says that Mr. Trump's troubles didn't start when he was elected. I voted for him and knew what I was getting."
