Thirty-one percent of Americans say that President Donald Trump supports white nationalism, while only 22 percent say he opposes it, according to a HuffPost/YouGov poll released on Wednesday.
Twenty-four percent said Trump does not have a strong opinion either way on white nationalism, while an additional 24 percent were not sure what the president thinks on the subject.
The survey was taken after Trump's comments on Monday in which he named white supremacists as a hate group, but almost entirely before his press conference Tuesday, in which he assigned blame for the violence in Charlottesville to both the white supremacist rally and the counter-protesters.
